On Tuesday, 10 February 2026, representatives of the Association, led by Mr. Thawatchai Poonchuay, Chair of the Subcommittee on Crab Products, together with Mr. Trirat Chaonthawee, Advisor; Subcommittee members Ms. Opa Sripha and Mr. Athiyut Hanmontri; Ms. Saowanee Khamfaeng, Director of the Association; Ms. Nareerut Chanthong, Deputy Director of the Association; and Ms. Pakawan Talawat, Blue Swimming Crab FIP Project Manager, attended the “1/2026 Meeting of the National Committee on Sustainable Management of Thailand’s Blue Swimming Crab Resources” at 1:30 PM at Chanak Meeting Room, 4th Floor, Charanthat Karnsuta Building, Department of Fisheries, and via Zoom Meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Manop Noosorn, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries. Participants also included Ms. Krisana Chankaew, Director of the Division of Fishery Product Certification System Development and Traceability; Mr. Pawaroj Naranatrakul, Marine Fisheries Expert; representatives from relevant divisions within the Department of Fisheries; representatives from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources; representatives from the Thai Fisheries Association; representatives from the Federation of Thai Small-Scale Fisherfolk Associations; and university lecturers involved in the project.

Objectives:
The meeting aimed to review the progress of the Blue Swimming Crab Fishery Improvement Project (BSC FIP) for Thailand, for reporting on the fisheryprogress.org website for the 2025 assessment cycle, as well as to consider the implementation results of the Action Plan for Blue Swimming Crab Fishery Management (2023–2027). In addition, the meeting discussed arrangements for field visits by assessors from the Marine Resources Assessment Group (MRAG) in Surat Thani and Chumphon provinces.
